Do-It-Yourself Wedding Video Production
So hiring a pro isn't in the budget. Times
are a little tougher than you thought they would
be at this point in your life, but your
wedding will be magic, just the same. The
problem is, you're only getting married once.
Your life is a movie and this is the opening
scene. You had better make certain these
precious moments are still preserved on
videotape. If you can't have a professional
wedding videographer at your wedding, you MUST plan an
alternative and handle your wedding
video production yourself. Here are a few important tips to
ensure this day doesn't just become a memory but
is preserved to enjoy years into the future:
Find a Handy Friend
|
- a d v e r t i s e m e n t -
| Find one or more friends or relatives to film
the event. In this day of high-tech gadgets,
someone within your circle of people undoubtedly
is an aspiring junior Spielberg. Tap into their
passion... and make sure they (or you) bring a
tripod so you don't get dizzy when you watch
your video!
Use Digital Video Cameras
Understanding that your friend won't have the
kind of equipment the pros use, make sure they
at least have a consumer-grade digital
video camera. Also known as a
digital camcorder, it will
provide superior video quality
than their analog camcorder
counterparts. If they don't have a digital
camcorder, find someone who does. It is just
that important.
One Tape is Not Enough
Make sure to get more than one digital videotape and have
your friend keep track of the event AND how much
videotape is left. Mini-DV,
MicroMV and digital8mm
all have a run time of 60 minutes in SP or
Standard Play mode. You do not want to
shoot your video in LP mode - you will lose
substantial video quality and
sound quality.
Always start out with a new videotape at the start of
each major event -- the rehearsal dinner, the ceremony,
the reception, etc. You never want to run out of
tape in the middle of the vows.
Always Make a Backup!
Make an immediate copy of the tape. Even a
VHS copy of your tape will suffice. In the
unlikely event of an accident, something is
better than nothing. The moment will be
preserved, if not the quality.
Send Your Tapes to StashSpace & Make Your Wedding Movie

stashSpace for immediate processing, or

video is just perfect, you can continue to add
