HomeMovie.Com Streams Interactive Online DVDs for Free

February 13, 2004 (Twisp, WA) - HomeMovie.Com has launched its StreamingDVD technology, announcing that every DVD produced for its professional customers will be streamed online in an interactive menu-based format for 30 days at no charge.

The company’s first implementation of its StreamingDVD technology will be streaming all wedding and event productions for their professional videographer customers through a specially set-up website located at weddingdvd.com.

“This changes everything,” said Lars Krumme, President of HomeMovie.Com. “Until now, most video streaming has consisted of individual clips. But our StreamingDVD service allows videographers to deliver their entire video online with the same functionality, graphical format and style as they’re delivering on DVD. And the pricing is unprecedented. For only $35, our Resellers get our top-of-the-line Director’s DVD and 30 days of a StreamingDVD for their Bride & Groom.”

Videographers send a unique Web address to their customers when the project is finished that will automatically bring up the customer’s StreamingDVD along with the videographer’s logo.

With broadband penetration among Internet households currently at over 42% and expected to surpass the 50% level in July of this year, the StreamingDVD product is poised to take advantage of the inevitable demand for high-quality, long-format streaming video.

The new StreamingDVD technology delivers the entire wedding video over the Internet in the same interactive format the newlyweds see on their DVD. Available exclusively through HomeMovie.Com’s national network of professional wedding and event videographers, the new service has already streamed thousands of hours of weddings and events over the last two months.

WeddingDVD.Com, a service of HomeMovie.Com, allows the entire wedding video to be shared over the Internet with the same functionality, graphical format and style received on DVD. That’s great news for couples engaged on Valentines Day – they account for an estimated 11 percent of the 2.4 million couples engaged each year - and great news for those who provide wedding videography services.

The free StreamingDVD is delivered for 30 days at a 120kbs rate with interactive menus and chapter marks. Optional upgrades are available to add a 250kbs stream and lengthen the delivery time to 60 days or 1 year for as little as $50. Videographers are also able to receive statistics for viewing of each StreamingDVD on a per-chapter basis.

The StreamingDVD is currently PC and Mac-compatible, and requires Internet Explorer 5.0+ and Windows Media 9. Upcoming features include the ability to sell additional DVD copies directly through the StreamingDVD interface, additional website delivery portals for event and corporate videos, and support for dial-up connectivity.

All members of the HomeMovie.Com Reseller program can receive BasicPlusDVDs for $25 or the industry-leading Interactive Director’s DVDs for only $35. In addition, HomeMovie.Com Resellers receive a free two-hour StreamingDVD of one of their videos that can be viewed from their website.
