Online Video Editing Hardware

stashSpace is where your digital life comes together, allowing you to capture, edit, upload and share video and pictures online. Below you'll find a easy to follow guide to the many electronic devices and analog media that is supported by stashSpace. Remember that none of these items are mandatory, but most of them will make your experience much richer.

Video Requirements

A Digital Video Camera with a Firewire connection will allow you to upload video directly into your account, so you can then share video online with your family and friends. There are many excellent cameras in the market that vary in price and quality.

With stashSpace any DV, HD or HDV digital camera will work fine. Firewire cables are also needed, some cameras come with one, or you may have to buy it separately. We have a picture of the most common Firewire cable connector for Digital Camcorders. You'll notice that the ends are different, one being wider (6 pins, connecting to your PC), and the other slim and small (4 pins to the camera)

Look for the Firewire Logo, which will be displayed in all compatible cables. Now some computers come with a port where you can plug in these cables, some don't. Most electronics stores will carry PCI Cards that you, or them, can install into your PC to allow you to connect your camera. Make sure that the cards are also Firewire compatible, since there are a myriad of PCI cards with other uses.

If you don't have time to upload all your video, we offer a convenient Video Transfer Service , where you mail us your Digital or Analog tapes, and we transfer them to digital and load them into your StashBox Account. Old 8mm film, Super 8mm film and 16mm film reels can also be digitally re-mastered and transferred to digital so you can share them again with your relatives or friends. We recommend you mail your tapes well padded, and with a carrier that offers a tracking system. You should expect your video to be uploaded within 5 days of receipt at our warehouse. Please allow 3 to 5 weeks for your film transfer order.

Photography Requirements

Digital Photo cameras vary in style and prices, but all will allow you to download your pictures to your computer. StashBox can import and upload your pictures directly from your camera to add to your SnapShots DVD. Most cameras connect via a USB cable, and practically all computers come equipped with a USB Port. Some digital cameras will even allow you to record short movies, including sound. To import these movies to your account you'll have to first save them into your computer, and the use the Import Video File feature in stashBox.  You can also import directly from your digital camera memory card using a digital card reader.
